Some species of hemp don’t have psychotropic qualities
There are lots of chemical compounds called phytocannabinoids in hemp. They determine most of the hemp properties.
These compounds can also be found in other products, such as chocolate or vegetables. One type of phytocannabinoids is called tetrahydrocannabinol, abbreviated THC, and this substance has psychotropic effect on the human brain. It is worth mentioning that there are hemp species which belong to Cannabis sativa L family, the plant widely used to make food and produce oil. Hemp that belongs to this family only has 0.2% THC substance, so it does not have an psychotropic effect on humans. The amount of THC can be up to 30% in some species of hemp, which has a strong psychotropic effect.
